Where's the ship ?

I have passed this anchor for over a decade and never stopped to look in detail. Today I did and could not find any plaque/inscription/notice so have no more information on where it came from or why it is here.

I did notice that the street beside it is called "Great Michael Rise" which I assume is a reference to the fact that the Great Michael of the Royal Scottish Navy was built in Newhaven in the early 16th century. Perhaps the anchor is a model of the original ship's anchor, it seems unlikely that it is the original.........unless you know better.
