The Anvil

Have been meaning to have trip to Brimham Rocks in Nidderdale Yorkshire for a while now. As the weather was forecast better over the Pennines we headed east. The weather worn Brimham Rocks are owned by the National Trust and are located just north of Harrogate. The Victorians who visited the spa town made the rocks popular and gave them names according to the weather worn shapes. You have to have a good imagination and squint a bit to visualise some of them such as the turtle, the eagle and the sphinx. It is a great place to visit high up on the edge of the Nidderdale valley. Me and Mrs Wild can never understand why the area was left out of the Dales national park. Must have been some admin cock up. Had a lovely day and 8 mile walk and only got wet for 20minutes.
