Ring-necked Pheasant

I can usually hear the call of a Ring-necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) whenever I visit my sister’s house, but I rarely see one. Several pheasants have lived on her land for many years, and these birds are very good at hiding in the deep grass of the meadow. They always move very quickly when out in the open, so I usually struggle to photograph them. I got lucky and snagged this image of a female just before she disappeared again.
