Lacock Abbey NT (Wednesday 18th May 2022)

Sometimes something that one must have seen several times before can suddenly catch your eye and interest. I was strolling through the Botanic Gardens and other areas in the grounds of Lacock Abbey during the afternoon when I noticed this extremely large and rather splendidly delapidated frizzy white flower among the dying tulips. From a search online I believe it might be Snow Crystal or Honeymoon but there may be other similar varieties.

Yet again my search for the Abbess cat was unrewarded despite it being warm and sunny. Neither of the resident cats were in view either. I did see a shot of the Abbess posted online not long ago, but it may not have been taken as recently as the posting, so I'm hoping she is all right. I believe she lives in a home next to the very posh bakery in the road that backs onto the north side of the grounds, near to the church, and it is possible her actual name is Gracie.

I walked up to the Rockworks where she often hangs out and passed a border of wild garlic and cow parsley beside a fence (in Extras). The field beyond is also open to visitors as part of the Lacock Abbey estate.
