Cyprus Well

On the way home from Bude we took a diversion to Launceston, a fine old Cornish town. On this old fashioned Saturday morning the town band were playing by the war memorial in the town centre. We took the opportunity to look for Cyprus Well, the former home of the poet Charles Causley, which we heard about on Wednesday at the Jim Causley concert at the Bude Literary Festival. It is a short walk from the centre. We were so lucky. A member of the Charles Causley Trust was there and invited us in for a quick look round. The house is available for rent, and has been beautifully restored. The extra shows Charles’ study, desk, and typewriter. There was a very special atmosphere in each room. Ideal for a writing/ reading retreat.
