no tornado

We had a tornado warning. It was, yet again, lovely to be home and able to move all the things from the deck to safer locations.

This pretty and lovely smelling flower is an invasive honeysuckle. This is what was on my doomed blueberry bush. I did think about keeping it but decided against it. Do you think there are North American plants invading the Far East?

Russia's drone fleet is being destroyed. Russia's most common type of drone is called the Orlan-10. It has a ten-foot wingspan and an internal combustion engine. It can cruise for 16 hours at 65 mph. The loss rate quadrupled in the last couple of weeks. Why? Ukrainians recently started carrying portable jammers from Lithuania and Australia. They look like ray guns. Before the war the advertising suggested it could survive electromagnetic warfare. Ah corruption. There was a major scandal. An investigation reported that someone stole 446 million rubles. Military-grade electronics supposed to have been built in Russia were replaced by cheap commercial parts from China.

British Army veterans saved nine lions at a Ukrainian zoo. Dwindling meat supplies due to the war meant they were facing starvation. There was a risk that shelling would damage the Odesa zoo and free the lions, because the one thing people under fire need is to also have hungry lions on the loose. Animal rescue groups Breaking the Chains and Warriors of Wildlife traveled to Odessa on Monday, across three borders and thousands of miles over 72 hours. People raised thousands of dollars for the mission to cover fuel, veterinary, and security costs. They had to sedate them but then the vehicles were high so it took six to eight men, using a homemade stretcher, to get the lions up, above shoulder level, into the vehicles. They saved two adult males, five adult females, and a male and female cub and took them to Romania. The eventual aim is to fly the lions to South Africa to the Simbonga Game Reserve or a wildlife sanctuary in the US.
