Occasionally Focused

Well Spent

Today the kids used up all their saved pocket money. Well, not what they've put into their bank accounts (they've been good about putting in a bit of their pocket money every week since the school banking started), but everything in their piggy banks, which they've been saving surprisingly well. Miss 7 has been wanting "Regular Show" toys for quite some time, and it emerged that with this week's pocket money, she had enough for a set of all 7 main characters (tiny ones, but I reckon a pretty good deal for $40). Thus we decided to head down to Toys 'R' Us in the afternoon, and thus Mstr 5 decided that he wanted to take his saved pocket money down and see if there was anything he wanted. There we found this. It took all his saved money (just under $30), but it's really really good. Both kids, as can be seen here (and larger here), absolutely love it.

I wound up the ISO to get a half-decent shot, and the resulting noise looks better in B&W than colour. Also mrs tsuken and I both find that the B&W focuses our attention more on the kids and the track, whereas the colour version allows the eye to flit about the room more.

Also today I moved my comics and their shelves from what is now the kids' playroom into my office/music room. Not a moment too soon either; when I went to get the first lot of them I found Miss 7 with a few Witchblade issues, one - of course some sort of special edition with a certificate of authenticity - out of its bag about to be read. ;-)

And here is a nice sample of Mstr 5's writing from today. His automotive obsession is on display, as is his use of squiggles to fill in for words he doesn't know how to spell. ;-)
