I wandered lonely as a... celandine?

Most people know William Wordsworth's love of daffodils from his poem 'I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud' but how many know that his favourite flower was actually the lowly celandine? Me neither, until I saw an item about it recently on 'The One Show'. It seems he wrote three poems about the celandine - my favourite being 'The Lesser Celandine'.

There is a Flower, the Lesser Celandine,
That shrinks, like many more, from cold and rain;
And, the first moment that the sun may shine,
Bright as the sun himself, 'tis out again!

It perfectly sums up this little flower and therefore I choose celandines as my blip for today.
