Hinckley Lake Boat Launch

Today I did my trail ambassador duty with Jim H, a gentleman who grew up playing at Hinckley Lake as a child.  The land was transferred from the town of Hinckley in Medina County to the Cleveland Metroparks.  I'd never been to this park before but had heard it's one of the best in the system.

Not only is this reservation home to 90-acre Hinckley Lake, but it is also famous for the annual return of the buzzards, a spillway, river, in-ground swimming pool, fishing and ice fishing lake, sledding hills, multiple baseball diamonds, ancient ledges, horsebackriding, and of course, a lot of hiking and walking trails.  It's very different from many of the parks I've visited.

Jim and I walked the all purpose trail around the lake.  There were dozens of kayakers, paddle boarders, pontoons, and people fishing from the water's edge. 68 degrees and sunny - just perfect! We had a great time together and agreed to meet up at another reservation. He also roams the zoo, so he puts in a lot of volunteer hours.
