A Spring offering

An action packed day - I met Bat and CarolineL for a pre blipmeet blipmeet. We rendezvoused at Glebe Gardens and ate a madly healthy lunch (halloumi bruscetta for me, warm squash salad for them) accompanied by a little robin. We then followed Caroline as she led us off the beaten track, up and down tiny roads until finally arriving at the tiny abandoned hamlet of Spain, teettering on the edge of  a cliff with magnificent views out into the Atlantic. I've been trying to find out why it was called Spain but can get nothing specific - the area abounded in piracy, Spain was an ally of Ireland against the English; Spanish Armada  -who knows. We then went the scenic way to Lough Ine - even tinier steeper roads finally arriving at the lough - a huge deep fresh water lake in which we spotted a couple of seals, two otters playing, a swan's nest and an egret. I led them to the holy wells nestling in the woods - my blip today is of the tiny altar in the Skour well, perfect for sorting out warts.

Any more takers for the blipmeet on the 19th May? See forum
We shall start at Baltimore, a pretty seaside fishing village; head off to see Lot's Wife (!), visit Spain and end up in Lough Ine.  Picnics may be taken, weather permitting. Beds and lifts are all available for those wanting to come a bit earlier or travelling from afar.
