Rescue

Yesterday Angie collected 15 chickens that were being retired by a semi professional small egg farmer who wanted younger birds to increase laying rates. They cost a fraction of young birds but are only 2-3 years old & thus have quite a few years to go, even if not quite laying as many eggs.

We have lost quite a few girls over the winter, mainly to birds of prey & a fox. Today they were locked in their pen for most of the day as they get used to the new surroundings.
