The long walk in

To reach the high Cairngorms you have to be prepared for the long walk in (or cycle). Today we climbed Beinn A Bhuird on a lovely sunny and warm day. It was about a 17 mile round trip through the old Caledonian Pine Forest along the river Quoich then up onto the hill onto the summit plateau. When I first climbed this hill (in 1979) this involved walking up an ugly land rover track., but now the area is owned by the NTS this track has disappeared and a much smaller path has appeared. We only met 3 other folk ( and some ptarmigan) the whole day. A good day out.
