Souvenir gift.

Enjoyed day 3 of the 2022 Open. My wife gave me this souvenir cap which we’d seen in Auchterlonies earlier in the month. A lovely surprise! Our younger son bought it from their main shop near the 18th green when he was at day 1 of the Open. Auchterlonies is the oldest golf shop in St Andrews, around since 1895. The Auchterlonie family have quite a history in the world of golf; they were involved in early days of hand crafted Club making and early ball making, and contained an Open Champion, a US Open winner and two honorary R&A professionals. Nowadays their name is synonymous with several shops; they sell top quality golf club brands and accessories, provide fitting services, and great customer service and advice. They also have a fine pre-owned section. I’m looking forward to coverage of the final day of the 150th Open tomorrow.

Scotland Rugby’s tour to Argentina concluded this evening. They lost the Test decider at 80.09 mins, the Argentinian player who plays for Edinburgh Rugby scored the winning try. Bitter irony!

Older son, wife and wee dog took early morning ferry to Uist, a straightforward drive to to Mallaig, and fine crossing experience again. Younger son played golf in a competition, his second of the week.
