W-I-D-E on Wednesday: Tree

Bobsblips has set "Flower/Plant/Tree" as today's Widwed challenge. So here's a wide (fisheye) shot of a branch of our apple tree. (In true blip style I took this lying on our drive - hope the neighbours didn't see, at least no ambulance arrived!!)

Two years ago we had a massive crop from the tree, but last year we only got about 6 apples. This year a lot of little apples started to grow but the "June Drop" has continued well into July - maybe due to the weirdly hot and windy weather we've been having even here in the Northeast. However it looks as if we'll still get a reasonable crop this year. We don't know the variety as the tree was already here - and quite old - when we moved in: they're definitely cookers, not eaters, but they make a very tasty pie or crumble and my Editor has often made delicious apple-and-mint jelly with them.

After yesterday's hot weather record (albeit less severe than down south) it's lovely to have a temperature of about 20 and a light breeze.
