45407 ?The Lancashire Fusillier?

Locomotive no. 45407 was built by the Armstrong Whitworth Company Spotswood, Newcastle in 1937 for the L.M.S Railway, its work number being 1462. It was 1 of 226 engines, which was the largest order ever placed with a private builder by a British Railway Company the order being worth 2.7 million Pounds. It can be seen quite regularly heading 'The Jacobite Express' from Fort William up the west coast to Mallaig.

Today it was running from Inverness to The Kyle of Lochalsh. It left Inverness at 0630 so I had to be up at Stupid o clock to get to a photo location. This is between Garve and Achnasheen. Just before my arrival the car told me there was ice on the road and an outside temperature of 3C. Just as I arrived there were high winds and then a snow storm giving whiteout conditions. Thirty minutes later it had all gone but you can still see heavy water droplets on the trees in the foreground.
