Saturday 16 May 2009: Troll-C

This morning we arrived on our new location, the Norwegian Troll Field. It is, as most of all the other Norwegian oilfields enormous. The Troll Field consists of numerous sub-sea structures and large floating and fixed concrete platforms. Troll Charlie is a floating Production Unit. It was built 10 years ago and is moored here in 300 meter water depth on 16 large mooring chains. Production rates are huge; this platform alone is producing 190.000 barrels of oil and 320 million cubic feet of gas every day. The oil amount only equals almost 26.000 tons every day. On the picture you can see clearly the large number of risers coming up from all her wells transporting the oil and gas to the platform.
