Scalloway, Shetlands, Seaport and Shed

Farewell Norway, hello Scotland -- in particular Lerwick in the Shetland Islands.

Today we visited Scalloway Castle -- a tower built in 1600 by Patrick Stewart, 2nd Earl of Orkney (a rather unpopular fellow with the locals), which is currently having its falling masonry seen to, so we couldn't go in.  We also visited a Shetland Pony stud where we met these two adorable new additions to the herd, both born within a week of each other in May.  (Clearly Shetlands are the equine version of Dachshunds!)

The other two pictures in this collage show some very impressive fishing nets piled on the pier at Scalloway Harbour, and a gem of a shed decorated with seashells by a local fisherman.
