Wreaths

Jimmy's funeral today. Ruth was brought over by kind carers from the home she is now in. Until an hour beforehand she hadn't decided whether or not to come but I'm glad she did. It was a lovely church service, plain and simple and exactly right. The minister had really found out a lot about Jimmy from local people, friends and relations. Lots of references to his gardening and veg growing.

After the service, Ruth also joined everyone at the kirkyard. She stayed in the car, with the door open,  and lots of folk went over to offer their condolences. She was promised a double brandy on her return to the home!

A sad day, but good to have spent so long with friends, remembering a lovely, thoughtful, kind and gentle man.

Mike then took the campervan over on the ferry to sell it to someone who had come up from South for it. Not something we wish to repeat, ever. He was hardly back when he had to take me to Kirkwall for the ferry overnight down to Aberdeen.

What a day!
