A day with the Grands

Evan, Eliana, and Bella spent the day with Sue and me. We ate Sue's from-scratch waffles with fresh peaches and blackberries, made some tie-dye T-shirts and towels, made burritos for lunch (Bella at the stove), and then spent the afternoon at a playground, where I persuaded these two to stop running for long enough to lie down on the grass and let me make a photograph of them. A fine late-summer day, bliss all around.

Eliana is 8 months older, but they play wonderfully together. Both are lovers of fantasy play, and they respect each other's imaginations while moving in and out of each other's created universes. I love their very different complexions and hair color.
