Above And Beyond...

Little Doward

The eldest son James visited for the midday kick-off of the Severnside Derby match of Bristol City v Cardiff City FC which was on Sky-tv. Cardiff were poor and lost 2-0. Let's hope that's reversed in the home fixture later in the season.

The only upside was it was an early kick-off and we had time to go for a walk. Only five minutes from the house is Little Doward Woods, (Whitchurch, nr Ross on Wye, Herefordshire) which at it's top is located a Bronze Age & Iron Age hillfort (2,300BC - 600BC) the ramparts of which are still visible. Just under the trig-point on the hillfort is the Beech tree of which I photographed that stood out against the fir trees behind.

I've often driven past the forestry car park for the 82 hectacre woods and now we know how beautiful it is we will return often as it's so close.
