Sunday jobs in the morning.
Originally, we'd hoped to avoid the Bank Holiday crowds, walk on local hills in the afternoon, and go to a local restaurant for our evening meal. Fearing a repeat of last Sunday's fish & chip scenario, I phoned them to book a table, only to discover that they were fully booked. The Redesdale Arms did have a table, so Plan B was put into action - a meal there after a walk on the way. Two walks, in fact. The first was by Catcleugh Reservoir, where we surprised to see several huge wild goats. The second near the start of the Kielder Forest Drive, where we walked a very short section of the Pennine Way. Finally to the Redesdale Arms, where we enjoyed a roast dinner.

Extras - On the way there we'd stopped very briefly at Carter Bar, on the English/Scottish border. On one side of the road is the flag of Scotland, waving gently in the breeze. On the other side the English flag, discoloured, tattered, hanging limply from the flagpole, the symbol of a broken country...
