Transition stage

This Southern Red Bishop is busy getting his plumage for the breeding season. He will soon have a beautiful red head and back. At the moment he is really scruffy! I always find this transition stage fascinating. Each year huge colonies nest in the reeds at the bottom of the cliff .
They are seed eaters and are active patrons at the bird restaurant!
I had the eye patch over the eye that was operated on yesterday, removed today. The Dr is pleased with the op...good news is that I'm sure I'll be able to read the small print again. My eye is still a bit blurry but that should clear soon.
