A few more steps

This is a photo just next to the summit of Grizzly Peak, a relatively small mountain (2500m) in Kananaskis Provincial Park.

I could not decide which photo I liked most, so these are the other two candidates: one, two.

This was effectively the first scramble of the season and so it was very tiring to finish the trip. A few wrong turns brought us to very difficult terrain and rotten wet snow half way up.

The sun was baking the snow all day long so we watched about a dozen avalanches come down in the surrounding bowls and chutes. We picked a route without much snow, though the ridge to the top required use of axe.

After the day was up, we each found about half a dozen wood-ticks clinging to our legs, arms, torso, head, etc. Yuck!
