One step closer

I went to watch the match at Tynecastle today which was a pretty key one in deciding whether Aberdeen or Hearts would get the UEFA cup slot which is up for grabs for next season. If Aberdeen won they were guaranteed it, if Hearts won they would only have been one point behind us and we have a far tougher final two fixtures than they do.

Unfortunately neither result happened, it was a one all draw. That said it leaves Aberdeen in the driving seat meaning that Hearts have to win both their last two games while at the same time Aberdeen have to lose both of theirs (well lose one and draw one I suppose). Coupled with the fact that Hearts took the lead in the first half and Aberdeen only equalised in the last few minutes I left the ground pretty happy.

This is Aberdeen's goal scorer Barry Nicholson who unfortunately got sent off just after the goal receiving a second yellow card for removing his shirt in celebration. He wasn't the only one who was happy with the goal. When it hit the back of the net several fans decided to try and get onto the pitch to celebrate with the players resulting in several of them being removed by the Police.

Hearts may still pip us to the European slot, but at least it's still in our hands.

By the way, this will be my last blip about football or politics for some time, I promise.
