Day 12 - Lofotens

We slept well after our exertions of yesterday and didn’t get underway till 10 as we spent a bit of time working out where to go for the next 2 days - our plan is to get the boat to Bodo on Monday so we’ll explore the southern islands till then. We are trying to get off the main E10 road and take F roads to get off the beaten track a bit. Most of them are single track but have passing places so that’s ok with us as we are used to that in Scotland.

After a lovely walk on Haukland beach which the sun was just getting to,such was the steepness of the mountains, we got back on E10 and stopped for lunch at Skreda which had pretty picnic tables. We had a walk down to some red holiday houses and on the way back I chatted to 3 young Irishwomen, one of whom had driven from Ireland in her van and was working for the summer in A at the end of the E10 road. She told me about some good walks further south but it looks like we won’t have time to go as there’s only 2 ferries to Bodo on Monday. Mr C is struggling to book the 7 am one on his phone.

Continuing on E10 we stopped to look at Flakstad church and beach but the free parking area was cordoned off and the campsite was busy so we carried on to Ramberg. The parking area by the beautiful beach was full so we drove back up the hill to a place where 4 vans could park. We then walked off down to the beach for another walk in the sun. It has been a very relaxing day as we did only 41 miles! So far we have driven 2094 miles.
