Washed out

The forecaster issued a orange weather warning for thirteen counties. Sure enough, the rain started timidly enough during the morning, got worse by lunchtime and bucketed down in the afternoon, evening and overnight.

Ah well, we can't really complain, not after two months of unusually high temperatures and gardeners and farmers biting their nails off because of drought. Even so, the drive over to Carl's was pretty dismal.

Things picked up inside, with a spur-of-the-moment onion, mushroom and sausage broth thing that was really good. After that we treated ourselves to Stephen Spielberg's re-make of West Side Story, with crips nibbled during it and sandwiches added to the mix half-way through. The original is one of favourite films. I've watched it at least ten times and love and respect it dearly. I couldn't understand why SS felt the need for a re-make and can't say that I was overly convinced having now seen it. There were some bits which were better than the original, but there was too much fiddling around with characters and situations for my liking.
