Raining Petals

I came out of the house this morning to ride my bike, and the street trees on my side were letting down a layer of petals with every gust of the gentle breeze.

I keep meaning to learn the species, but I never get around to it! My doorstep happens to be at the part of the street that gets really blanketed like this every spring.

This was the elegant start of a beautiful day. I even wore shorts as I painted!
