Almonds...

.....Prunus amygdalus, ripe for the picking.

It's September, almond harvesting time, and it's going to be a hot one. Normally it would be a tad cooler but this year it's still up to 35C in the fields during the day.  It's invigorating and rewarding work, even though all manner of bugs fall off the trees onto one's head in the process. The clacking and whirring of harvesting is a lovely sound.

Today I tried to catch a tiny young gecko on the patio wall. I did manage it but not quite as well as I'd hoped. I absolutely love geckos. They are sticky footed and happily root around for bugs and flies in nooks and crannies. He is in the extra just for fun and because it's Saturday.
