Acorn Feast

Our resident squirrels love the oak tree in our garden. The youngsters enjoy playing chase with each other along its huge branches, and in the autumn the adults forage for dropped acorns on the lawn beneath. Despite the acorns being swept up and removed before the weekly mow, there are always plenty more appearing, so we will be seeing sights like this for weeks to come.

We’ve had another quiet day; a friend came for coffee this morning, and then my husband and I watched the service of thanksgiving for the Queen from St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh this afternoon. The entire service was impeccable and the music and singing were fabulous. I know that the details would have been prepared long before she died, but nevertheless the speed with which such a perfect service was put together was truly amazing.
