Winding Down...

The garden is slowly winding down.  From the height of its riotous bloom in late June, it is now entering its final stages.  Sedum, shasta daisies, grasses, the odd late phlox and, of course, rubeckia are holding court now. One or two asters are yet to bloom but essentially the show is over for this year.  The annual cutdown will begin in early October as I leave every possible bloom and seed head for the bees and birds to the last moment.  Rain is on the way later today and with it cooler temperatures.
