Trial run

Having finally got to the end of Couch to 5K (on about the fifth attempt at trying) I've set myself the challenge of doing a ParkRun and a date of 1st October. So, I headed out with the bestest friend / coach this morning to run the Doddington Hall route. We planned not to run it all but walked a mid section but it did feel doable and I've got two weeks to get even more ready. Need to stick to that plan with some after work runs in those 2 weeks.

Home to walk Bailey before settling down to watch the pomp and ceremony of the Queen's funeral. A visual spectacle of London landmarks and the armed forces in all their glory but it was the soundtrack that was even more affecting. The skirl of pipes, the rocking regularity of the beat of the drums and boots, the gun salutes and chimes of Big Ben. And 8 pallbearers who had the hardest job of all and did it flawlessly.

More prosaic jobs for me whilst the Queen travelled to Windsor - cutting the grass and doing the ironing. Once she got close there was something even more poignant about guardsman marching down a country lane not to mention her horse and corgis being brought out to say their goodbyes.

It's been a day well done, I think.
