The New Kings

Marillion, at Hammersmith.
With the arrival of our loathsome new government, the lyrics to ‘The New Kings’ seem more apt than ever.

‘We are the New Kings.
From up here we can’t see the slums,
Or the bums on the street,
Or the mums on the game.

We’re too big to fall,
We’re too big to fail.
It’ll trickle down.

Do you remember a time when you could sing the National Anthem without feeling used or ashamed?

You poor sods have no-one to blame but yourselves.
On your knees, peasants.
You’re working for the New Kings’.
