Alfama

BACKBLIP

Our last full day In beautiful Lisbon!

We had our breakfast on the balcony then wandered to the bus stop round the corner to get the bus into the centre. One of these split in the middle buses it was and we were joining the commuters but it was fine we got a seat.

Jumped off and round the corner to wait on the Tram 28 to Prazares. I love rattling round the streets on the old trams and seeing what happening in the places we pass - windows pulled right down to get the feeling of each neighbourhood you pass by. Fabulous!

We jumped off just before the last stop and went to the Cafe that Ben and i went to in November joining all the regular worthies having their get together and morning chat. It was a great spot to see the trams coming up the hill, good viewing spot.

Next up was getting the old tram back downhill then uphill again to Alfama . To get lost in the old, narrow winding streets. So atmospheric. We found the Copenhagen Coffee shop and Bakery, and decided to get lunch there and also buy pastries for breakfast tomorrow in the apartment before the flight home. Goes without saying the coffee was excellent and so was the food.

We walked down the little streets past Tonto’s corner then where everyone goes - Miradouro de Santa Luzia for the classic view over the rooftops of Alfama and down to the Tejo. Stunning. How many photos have I taken from here….

Walked downhill to the waterfront and yet more food in the Cafe at the waterfront, watching the ferry come and go .

Where was next? Ah yes, Commercio, then the bus back to the apartment. Quick freshen up, some packing , then we just had some food in the food hall of the big shopping mall. I had a bowl of fruit with yogurt and S had noodles .

We were shattered (again), and slept well till the alarm at 7:15!
