N for No, No, No, No, No!

Or Nottingham Forest for short. Technically, this shouldv'e been yesterday's blip, but as part of my alphabet series, N it is today.

As a Forest fan, it came soooo close for us yesterday as we let it slip in the last few minutes (of injury time). Leicester beat us 3-2 at the City Ground. Forest missed the play-offs and will remain in the Championship for another season.
Sye is not happy.

So this is (a very depressed) me reflecting on what could have been. Though, judging by Reading/QPR's relegation from the Premiership last weekend I am pretty relieved in a way as I don't believe we are quite ready for top flight football, despite having rather rich (new) owners. However I think Billy Davies did quite a fantastic job putting us into 8th position, considering Forest brought almost no-one in the January transfer window. Why Forest got rid of him a year and a bit ago I don't know. Steve (umbrella) MaClaren took over & we all know what happened there.

I just hope Forest will keep hold of their best players and build on that, but judging by Forest's track record, this'll seem highly unlikely as they have a nasty knack of selling off decent players............

The quality players we have sold over the years reflect that:
Stan Collymore
Roy Keane
Van Hooydonk
Kevin Campbell
Nigel Clough
Des Walker
Teddy Sherringham
Jermaine Jenas
Stuart Pearce
Steve Stone
Are just a few to mention!

At least we can reflect on those amazing achievments that Brian Clough & Peter Taylor brought to the club in such a short amount of time in the late 70s & early 80s.

Footy trivia: Forest are still the only club to have won the European Cup (twice) more times than they have won their domestic league (once).
