Autumn colour

This mushroom, a member of the Russula family, is probably the one known as the charcoal burner from the colour of the flames produced.
To me it resembles the bruised appearance of an overcast sky which I should have heeded (or checked the forecast) before I set out for a long walk with inadequate clothing. All was well until the last lap when the heavens opened and the dog and I were quickly soaked to the skin. We made it back to our starting pointing just too late for the bus and took shelter in the church porch where a splendid harvest loaf caught Raki's attention (extra). Fortunately the hardware shop had free samples of dog biscuits which proved an adequate distraction until we caught the next bus home.
