Castle Roy

We completed our journey home today. We had stayed in Boat of Garten overnight, and in the morning went to see Castle Roy nearby. It's the remains of a 12th century fortress and has recently been consolidated and presented to the public. They've done a good job of it and it was interesting to visit. The view from the site was lovely, with the morning mist making for an atmospheric scene (see extra). After a brief stop in Aviemore to look at the remains of a clava cairn in the middle of a housing estate (also in extras), we headed south, stopping in Dunkeld and then Auchterarder for a break and to eat lunch. I was dropped off at Croy station and caught the train back to Edinburgh.
