Peeling Bark

this time from what I believe is a crepe myrtle, but not one I can find online.  If anyone can correct me, please do.  The picture of the whole tree is in the extra because I couldn't load it as the main blip.  Crepe myrtle trees aren't supposed to be able to grow here because of our cold winters.   I discovered that another kind with a very different peeling bark with green splotches underneath is growing two streets away. 

I haven't been feeling well for several days, so I haven't been able to visit blips very much. A  Covid test was negative today and lab work all came back good.
