The Edge of the Wold

No egrets

There were no egrets clearly visible in my recent blip of Morecambe Bay, even though there was one feeding - blame that on the resolution of the phone camera.  There's none in today's main photo looking towards the sunset, but in the extra there is a gang of no less than 13 little egrets just off Arnside Pier in the pooled water left by the retreating tide.  It's unusual to see so many close together, I guess they had gathered prior to flying off to their evening roost together.  It appeared to be more of a social occasion than a feeding one.

It's been a while since I last blipped an Arnside sunset.  And here I have to confess that there may not be many more Arnside sunsets - in this journal at least.  The news is that we are selling our house with the intention of moving away from the village that has been our home for twenty three years.  It's early days in the process, and with the recent economic crash and its effect on mortgage interest rates, anything could happen.  It's possible therefore that there could still be quite a few Arnside sunsets to come, we shall see.

Thank you to everyone for their lovely comments about Gus in Wednesday's blip.  C and I are of course hopelessly smitten by his charms, and it is good to know that he also still has so many admirers in Blipworld.
