Henry Head

Today’s walk was in doubt but eventually we set off at 1pm for Kamay Botany Bay National Park. The flannel flowers are in bloom, but the one that caught my eye is the extra. From the track it looked like black kangaroo paw, on bare stalks about a metre high. No idea what it is.

Update: Haemodorum planifolium, common name bloodroot, related to the kangaroo paw. Native to SE Australia.

The camouflaged pair next to an old WW11 battery at Henry Head were another mystery. They seemed to be with the couple being photographed.

Hope you’re having an enjoyable Sunday.
