Colour in the Woods

We aren't quite there yet, but there is a definite colouration of blue beginning to carpet the ancient woodland floor. The heat of the last three days has brought the bluebells on rapidly. Another week or so and the sight should be quite spectacular. Maybe it is just my impression but the late flowering would seem to be producing stalks that are stronger and flowers that are larger and more robust than in past years.

I'm waiting to find out if I have to go into work or not tonight. W.'s little Jack Russell went lame whilst playing with a ball a couple of weeks ago. They thought it was a torn ligament but, with no visible improvement, Milly was taken back to the vet. She has spent 3 hours today on the operating table. It seems her joint was out of place and, as initially misdiagnosed, has had to have bone replacement to repair the damage. The unfortunate side of the story is the dog was not insured. The bill, running into thousands, is insane! As a companion to a person with severe disabilities, just having the dog back in one piece is invaluable and the monies will be found, in one way or another.

The lesson of the day is that pet insurance may never have to be used, but is absolutely essential.
