A Meandering Life...

Helmsley, North Yorkshire

This morning we travelled over to Helmsley on the southern edge of the North York Moors. This part of the world has been covered in mist all day.

As we approached Sutton Bank* there were some breaks in the low cloud and the escarpment covered in autumn colour was quite mystical. Unfortunately there wasn't anywhere to park up to get a snap. Sometimes visibility was down to 40 yards or so.

In Helmsley we wondered around the Square and some of the shops before visiting the Castle run by English Heritage. Naturally we had tea/coffee and cake in one of the many tearooms. My Blip is an iconic shot of the town.

*Sutton Bank is a very steep hill on the A170, caravans and heavy lorries are banned from using it although with over 70 lorries a year getting stuck going up it appears not everyone can read signs...
