Tulips and Trams

As I said yesterday, no apologies for ANOTHER tulip, this time graced by drops from a very welcome shower.

And can you believe this is a tulip - looks more like a rose to me... Yesterday, in the sunshine, this same flower was gloriously open, revealing a stained purple interior, dark yellow stamens and a pistil of paler yellow mounted on dark pink.

Been researching history of Blackpool (on recent backblips) - fascinating - wished I'd had time to do it then. The tram was the "first electric street tramway in Britain, opened on 29 September 1885 using conduit collection along Blackpool Promenade. After 1960, this remained the only first-generation operational tramway in the UK" (Wikipedia). It runs for 11 miles and passed our hotel every 12 minutes. Apparently, it carries over 6 and a half million passengers every year - wow!

Certainly better than a road jammed with cars.
