Portrait of the Writer as a Young Man

Long ago I entered and won a crossword competition run by businesses in the Auckland suburb of Blockhouse Bay. Can’t recall what the prize was, but I got my photo taken at a paint shop for use in the community paper. I’m wearing my school uniform, having come straight there after classes.
