Piping Farewell

All too soon our organised trip was ended. Our wet kit, having been subjected to a dehumidifier working full-blast in the drying room or draped over chairs by the stove and on the mantlepiece overnight, was more or less wearable and ready to face the elements once more. Donna the piper, who entertained us last night, came to bid us farewell from the jetty, still wearing her working clothes - she is responsible for recycling and disposal of waste on the island.

At Mallaig the group split up, some to return home by train, others to prolong the break by travelling on; in our case, via Skye, to stay on the Island of Raasay.
