Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Palouse #3, and the book

We enjoyed our Farmhouse B and B and the most fabulous breakfasts ever so we just hung around this morning and had first, a birthday celebration for M, turning 75 today!! and then our May book discussion on the heavenly porch in the shade with a breeze, led by the birthday girl, before setting off back home, with a few stops on the way.

The book was "The Hare with Amber Eyes" by Edmund De Waal, a pottery artist living in England, writing a memoir/history of his Russian Jewish banking family moving to Paris, Vienna, London, and Tokyo/history of WWll and before in those places/art history of a family collection of 284 Japanese Netsuke. Sounds complex but was amazingly interesting - and provoked great discussion from us 70+ year olds about what we collect and WHAT TO DO about our collections...

Just put this photo up because I liked the simple shapes of the iconic barn and wheat field. It seriously is making me want to get out real paints and brushes (did one on the ipad..and will try for more there as well.)-I just loved the elegant rolling shapes and the light and shadow in this part of our state. But again there is a Flickr series with a few more examples..

We had a nice drive home with a great dinner (more birthday celebration) in Ellenburg before we hit the fog and cool grey skies as we came down the west side of the Cascade mountains back to Seattle.
