Sweet apple blossom

Sweet apple blossom.

A busy day .... went for a brief walk around the garden to boost Vitamin D reserves. This old apple tree is amazing. It was blown over in the 1987 storm and is now at about 45 degrees to the ground. Against all odds it produces this beautiful blossom every year followed by fat juicy cooking apples for apple crumble and blackberry and apple pies (we have a lot of brambles too).

I'm not sure why apple blossom is seen as so romantic ... maybe because the beautiful flowers are a precursor to fat round fecundity ...... who knows ...
