Edison- Longhorn Saloon

What a welcome LocalFoodLover and Pilipo gave us last night when we went to their house for supper. We tasted a wonderful selection of good food and drank many glassfuls of beautiful wine, with the whole occasion interspersed with much hilarity and bonhomie.

Because of the bonhomie, we were a little later in starting our recommended Chuckanut * drive from Bellingham along the shoreline of Chuckanut Bay and Samish Bay to Edison, a quaint little village with the Bread Farm selling naughty cakes as well as bread, and this very American saloon bar.

There were stops a-plenty on the way there for possible blips, but on most of the occasions the trees had their own agenda preventing a view of the oyster beds in the bay.

We passed flurries of cyclist out on an official spring offensive, all looking remarkably cool considering some were on a 100 mile ride.

The bikers were out in force too on huge shiny machines, roaring round corners, all leathered from top to toe and with hair flowing out from under their helmets. It was impossible to tell if they were male or female.

Now Berkeleyblipper and I are waiting for LocalFoodLover to pick us up to look at the Bellingham Farmers Market before touring ArtistAnnie's exhibition in Fairhaven.

The men have other plans........

* Chuckanut: a Native American word meaning - beach on a bay with a small entrance. For over 8,000 years, local tribes harvested shell fish from the waters of the sheltered cove of Chuckanut.
