FB Holden Special circa 1960

With our long daylight I had to wait until after M's and my back garden cocktail hour to take a photo of this wonderful derelict car which I'd spotted a couple of days earlier. No sooner had I arrived and had the car in my camera's sights than a man in a jeep pulled up and said that that was his car. So I gave the usual spiel about Blip, photo club etc but he was up for a chat. So he parked the jeep and revealed that he was 60 years old and bought the car when he was 30 (1992) when the car was already vintage (32 yo). He's having it completely restored by the local rust specialist.

Chris has 10 and 12 year old children. They rang him and said the ginger bread house he'd bought them to build together got trashed because they were fighting and would he buy them another one. He said no, they kept ringing. He kept saying no. The photo includes Chris on the phone saying no.

I've left out a lot of Chris's story (too long for a blip) but what was meant to be 10 minutes to take a photo turned into 1.5 hours. It was the right time for me to head home.

I thought M would be concerned that I'd stayed out so long but in fact, when I tried to tell him about this serendipitous encounter I was waking him from his reverie. He hadn't noticed I was gone.

Thanks for hosting Marlieske. 'Tis the night before Christmas. Sleep well and enjoy tomorrow.
