In the mountains

Eucalyptus prava, or Mountain Orange Gum, grows in the high country of eastern Australia around Ballandean, where we are quietly celebrating the New Year. They are also called Twisted Gums, because the limbs have a tendency to grow in twisty patterns.  We often come here for a few days over summer. This year the Twisted Gums are flowering especially well. The extra shows the orange coloured bark of this species. Both photos were taken today - New Years Day - on the property where we are staying in a very comfortable cabin.
