In the field

A day off! This morning Polly came round for a cuppa and then we went off for a short well explorations. She is a very talented local singer/songwriter who is hoping to do some work based on folklore and wells and came to me for some advice. We'd never met before but got on like a house on fire and had plenty to talk about. Three wells on the agenda but we first had to do a bit of cattle wrangling: two frisky bad girls out on the loose. Then we went to the blessed well at Gouladoo, perched on the edge of a cliff near a promontory fort. Spectacular, wild and windy, the sheep curious and the waterfall impressive. We got wet. On to Lady's Well where the water was cold and fresh but no eel to be sen. Finally another little well near Durrus. By this time we were ravenous and brought some rolls, making a hasty lunch back at home.
This is Polly's latest song- beautiful.
Time to finish off a new blog too
Back to it tomorrow.
